As a courtesy to our opponents, here are directions to Columbia High School and local fields where Columbia teams play their home games. This map shows the various locations in South Orange and Maplewood where CHS teams play their home games.

Directions to Everywhere - This listing was prepared by the Columbia High School Athletics Department, so most opponents' locations should be included.   The listing is NOT entirely alphabetical, so look carefully!

Try this link to High School Maps Online.  Just enter the name of the school, the town and state, and you will (we hope) get a Mapquest map for that school.  If you then enter your own address, you can get door-to-door directions!

Both the Columbia Soccer Boys' team web site  and the Girls' team web site have directions to many fields.

Summit Sports also has a very comprehensive listing of directions to area high schools and other venues.  Bear in mind, however, that these directions assume you are starting from Summit, so you may have to make some adjustments!

Directions to Everywhere:

Bayonne: Route 24 east to turnpike. Go over turnpike extension; follow signs for Holland Tunnel. Take first exit – 14A. Get onto Avenue E and go to 48th St.

Belleville: Parkway north to exit 150. Turn right on Joralamon Avenue; left on Franklin Ave. Turn right on Liberty Ave. Go 3 to 4 blocks to school.

Bloomfield: Parkway north to exit 151 – Watchung Ave. Go left at exit ramp. At third light go left onto Broad St.

Boonton: Route 24 west to Route 287 north to exit 44. Make a sharp left. Go ½ block. School is straight ahead.
    Fireman’s Field: Follow steps 1, 2, 3 above & then at Lathrop Ave. turn left.

Branch Brook Park: Take Scotland Road to Park Ave. Turn right and follow Park Ave to the park.

Bridgewater: Take Route 78 west to route 287 south exit – Somerville. Continue on 287 south to exit 13 – Route 202-206 south. Go 1 mile on 202-206 S. New mall on left. Just before light make a U turn and go back on 202-206 north for ½ mile. Take the Garritson Road exit. Go up the ramp and turn left over the bridge. Field house is ¼ mile down Garritson on left.

Caldwell: Northfield Road, turn right onto Prospect Ave. Turn left onto Eagle Rock Ave (Pal’s Cabin). Turn right onto Passaic Ave. Go 3 to 4 lights, turn right onto Westville. School is on left.
    Caldwell MS: Follow directions above. Pass high school. Continue on Westville through 1 light; turn left onto Prospect Street. Middle school on right.

Chatham: Gladiator Field – Take 24 west . Follow signs for Chatham. Take Main St to 4th light; turn left onto Lafayette Ave. At 1st light go right on Shunpike. Field is 1/8 mile down Shunpike.

A.L. Johnson (Clark): Parkway south to exit 135. Bear left and go half way around circle and under parkway. Take first right—Brandt Ave. Go to end. Turn right onto Westfield Ave. 

Clifton: Parkway north to exit 153B – left lane. You are on Route 3 west. Go to first Grove St. exit. North on Grove to VanHouten, turn right. Go over parkway & left at Katherine St. School is on Katherine.

Delbarton: South Orange Ave to square in Morristown. Take 24 west for 2 miles. School on left.

East Orange: Follow Scotland Road to Main St. Orange; turn right. Continue to Prospect St., East Orange; turn left onto Prospect. Pass Park Ave. & Springdale Ave. School on right.
    Robeson Stadium: Take Scotland Road to Park Ave. Turn right. Go approx 1 mile. Stadium on left.
    Oval Park: Take South Orange Ave to Clinton St. Turn left; go 2 blocks to Main St. Turn left; continue to Greenwood St; turn left. Field is behind Kentopp School.
    Elmwood Park: Take South Orange Ave; turn left on So Clinton. Right onto Elmwood Ave. Take Elmwood Ave to park entrance which is on your left.
    Washington Park: South Orange to Sanford St. Turn left. Take Sanford to Elmwood; turn left. Park is on left.

Essex County College: South Orange Ave; go two blocks past MLK Blvd. Turn left. Turn left onto West Market. At first light, turn left onto Warren St. Go to Colden St. turn left and follow Colden to parking lot.

Fair Lawn: Parkway north to exit 156. At bottom of ramp go onto Route 20. Travel along river following signs to Hawthorne. At 4th light—Exxon Station—turn left onto Morlot Ave; again crossing river. Continue to River Road; turn left. Next light is Berdan Ave; turn right. Go one block past school.

Hanover Park: Take South Orange Ave west to Afton Restaurant. Turn right; take Hanover Road to end. Turn left. School is ½ mile down on left.

Hopewell Valley: Route 78 west to 31 south. Stay on 31 S for about 30 miles. At Flemington circle follow signs for 31 & 202 south. Take “Route 31 south-Trenton” turn-off. Continue about 9 miles. At light go right onto Pennington-Titusville Road. School is 100 yards down this road.

Hunterdon Central: Route 78W to exit marked “Route 31 south – Flemington.” Take 31S to Flemington Fair grounds (about 20 minutes from when you got onto Route 31). At light after fair grounds, turn left onto Route 523; make an immediate right into parking lot.

Kearny: I280 to Harrison. Cross Stickel Bridge. Hard right off bridge to Passaic Ave. turn right under bridge. Bear right onto Belgrove. Turn right onto Bergen Ave. Follow Bergen to bottom of hill & turn left onto Schyler Ave. Harvey Field is on Schyler.

Lawrenceville: Parkway south to Route 1 south. Take 1 to route 95. (It may say 295.) Take 95 to “Lawrenceville-206 north” exit. School is on Route 206. Enter at 3rd gate on right and follow signs for playing fields.

Livingston: Northfield Ave to Livingston Ave. turn right. High school is about 1 mile on left.
    Heritage: Northfield Ave west. At light after Livingston Ave turn left onto Hillside Ave. Go right onto Foxcroft. School is ½ mile down on Foxcroft.

Madison: Route 24 west Chatham exit. Follow Main St into Madison business district. At Central Ave turn right. Go one mile. When you can go no farther, turn left.

Montclair: Northfield Ave west to Prospect Ave. Turn right; continue to Bloomfield Ave. Turn right. Turn left onto Park St. Go 3 lights to Chestnut. Turn right.
    Rand Tennis: See above. From high school continue on Chestnut to Fullerton Ave. Turn right. Courts at bottom of hill.
    Woodman Field: Proceed as above. Go under railroad & immediately turn left. Field is straight ahead.
    Anderson Park: Proceed as above to Bloomfield Ave. Turn right & go approx. ½ mile to North Mountain Ave. Go left. Park is 1 mile down on right.
    Watchung Field: Proceed as above to Bloomfield Ave. Turn right. Turn left on Park; right on Chestnut; left on North Fullerton. Cross railroad tracks. Field on right across from elementary school.
    Montclair-Kimberley Academy:  Proceed as above to Bloomfield Ave. Turn right. Field is ½ mile on right side.

Montville: Route 280 to Exit 1 – Edwards Road. Turn right at top of exit ramp. Follow signs to Route 46. Cross 46 and go as far as you can. Turn right. Proceed to next intersection and turn left onto Changebridge Road. Follow to Horseneck Road; turn right. School is on left.

Morris Hills: Route 280 to I80. Exit 37 – Hibernia-Rockaway & turn right onto Route 513. Follow this road marked with double yellow line until it dead ends in center of Rockaway. Turn right onto West Main Street (513). Follow west on Main St for approximately 1 mile until you approach the light at West Main & Route 46. Just before light turn right into Swede Mine Rd. Go one block; turn right onto Overlook Drive.

Morris Knolls: Route 24 west to 287 north to 10 west. Follow 10 west; pass Accura/Infiniti dealer on left. At next light (Exxon on right) turn right. Continue to the end. Turn left onto Franklin Ave. Go ¾ mile & turn right onto Knoll Drive.
    Zeek Field: Take 24 west to 287 north 10 10 west. Take the “U” turn at the light marked Mt Pleasant Tnpk-Greystone. Go east on Route 10. Exit at sign indicating “Greystone Park State Hospital.” This is Miller Road. Take first right off Miller – Zeek Road. Field is ½ mile on left.

Morristown: Take South Orange Ave to the end. Follow signs for business district to the square. Go around square & turn right onto Route 24 (Washington St). Go 2 long blocks to Atno Ave—first light past square. Turn right. Football field on left. Continue to first left turn for high school.
    Sussex Ave: At the square take 202 north past high school. Bear left. Sussex Ave school is on right.
    Frelinghuysen: Route 24 west exit 1A. Turn right onto East Hanover Ave, which becomes West Hanover. Go four miles. School is on left just beyond Quik Check.
    Harter Road: Route 24 west to route 287 south to Harter Road exit. At bottom of ramp turn left. Baseball field on right. (Robert Taratko Sports complex) Turn right & follow dirt road.
    Ginty Field: Route 24 west to Route 124 west to Woodland Ave exit. Field is on right.
    Mother Seton: Parkway south to exit 135. At exit ramp stay to left. Go half way around the circle. The school will be in front of you.

Mount Olive: Route 78 west to 206 north. At After Restaurant turn left onto Netcong-Flanders Road. Go 4 blocks and turn left onto Cory Road. Make first right into parking lot.

Mountain Lakes: Route 280 west to Route 287 (Morristown-Boonton). 287 north to first exit—Intervale Road. At end of ramp go left. At the light go right onto Fanny road. At first stop sign turn left onto Morris Ave. Stay on Morris about 1 ½ miles. Take third right turn onto Briarcliff Rd. go up hill to the old school on right & around back of school.

Nutley: Parkway north to exit 151—Watchung Ave. Go right at hop of ramp, and another right at the light—East Passaic Ave. At first light turn left onto Center Street. Proceed two lights & turn left onto Franklin Ave. School on right.

Oak Knoll: Route 24 west to Summit Ave. exit. Turn left at light. Continue on Summit Ave to Springfield Ave. turn right and follow Springfield Ave to Summit Grand Hotel. Turn left onto Blackburn and go 1 ½ blocks to school.

Parsippany: Route 280 west to I80 W. Exit at Edwards Road. Go to the end and turn right onto New Road. At light turn left onto Route 46 west. Go two lights, turn right onto Baldwin Road; school on right.

Parsippany Hills: Route 280 W to I80 West. Take Morris Plains-202 south exit. Bear right and continue on 202 south – Littleton Road. Turn right at Rita Drive, the first street after St. Christopher’s RC Church.

Pingry: Route 78 west to exit 33 – Bernardsville-Martinsville. At top of ramp go left onto Martinsville Road. School is about 1 mile on right.

Princeton: Parkway south to Route 1 south. Turn right onto Washington Road and continue to the light in the center of town. Go right on Nasau St, and left at the next intersection—Chestnut (becomes Walnut St). The school is four blocks down on right. Park in rear.

Randolph: Route 24 west to Route 287 north, to Route 10 West. Go 5 to 6 miles on 10 west. Pass K Mart, stay to right. Make a jug handle and get onto Millbrook Road. Go 1 ½ miles; school on right. Freedom Park – continue 1/4 mile; park on left.
    Fernbrook: Route 10 to Quaker Church Road (A & P). Go right onto Quakerchurch.
    Ironia School: Go right onto Route 10. Turn left onto Route 513 – Dover-Chester Road at County College of Morris. This is a jug handle turn.
    Brundage Park: Continue on Millbrook past high school. Turn right at Carroll Road. Park on left.

Ridgewood: Parkway north to exit 163 – left exit. You are on 17 north. Take SECOND Ridgewood Ave. exit. Continue 2-3 miles. Pass the high school; turn left onto Southern Parkway. Brookside Park is first side street off Southern Pkwy.
    Maple Park: . . . Take 17 north to Ridgewood Ave, Ridgewood. Jug handle over 17, go past 3 lights & 1 blinker. Pass the football field to No. Irving Ave. Turn right. Go to end. Turn left; go through next intersection—Linwood Ave. Immediately after crossing intersection, turn left into parking lot. Field is on northern end of lot.

Roxbury: Route 280 to I80 west to Exit 30 – Howard Blvd. Turn left onto Howard, turn left onto Route 46. Turn right onto Hillside, crossing Route 10. Turn left onto Bryant Drive for high school.
    Franklin School: Proceed as above. Turn right onto Hillside Avenue. Before you reach Route 10, turn left onto Meeker Street. Franklin School is behind Roosevelt School.
    Kiwanis Park: Proceed as above. Turn right onto Hillside. At Route 10 stop light, turn left onto Route 10. At next stop light turn right onto Ryland Ave. Go 2 ½ - 3 miles to Makin lane, turn left.
    Emmans Field: Follow first directions . . . crossing Route 10. Pass high school. Go 2 miles; turn right onto Carey (St. Dunstan Church). Go to end. Right on Emmans; go 1 mile; field on right.

Seton Hall: Take Wyoming Avenue to Gregory. At Northfield Ave. turn right; school is on right.
    O’Connor Park: South Orange Ave thru “S” curves. Turn right at first light. At light near Byrne Golf Course, go left onto Mt. Pleasant Ave. At top of hill turn right onto Ellison Ave. make another quick right onto Manger Road, then left onto Ralph Road. Entrance on left.
    Stagg Field: South Orange Ave to Wyoming Ave. Turn right; follow to Northfield. Turn left. Turn right onto St. Cloud Avenue (mini shopping center). Field is on your immediate left.

Summit: Route 24 west; exit at Summit, Springfield. Bear right, follow Summit sign across Route 24 onto Broad Street. Follow Broad into town, past railroad station. Broad ends at Morris Ave. Bear right for 2 blocks on Morris. At light turn left onto Kent Place Blvd. School on right; ½ mile.

St. Benedict’s: Take South Orange Ave to where it joins Springfield Ave. The new gym and school are on the right.

Voorhees: Route 78 west to Route 31 north exit. Go one mile to first light. Turn right onto Route 513. Continue on 513 for 3 miles. School is on right.

Warinanco: Take Valley St. to Union to Morris Avenue; turn left. Go past Kean College to first light; turn right onto North Avenue. Travel approximately 6 miles to St. George Ave.; go right to Warinanco. Go around past stadium and park.

West Essex: Route 280 west to Eisenhower Parkway. Turn left at 1st light—Eagle Rock Ave. Turn left at first light—Passaic Ave. Follow Passaic Ave. cross Bloomfield Ave. (airport on left, one mile after Bloomfield Ave) turn right at 3rd light—Greenbrook Road. Entrance is on left.

West Morris Central – Chester: Route 78 west to Route 287 north to Route 206 north. Follow 206 north past Route 24. At Four Bridges Road bear left. This will lead you to school.

West Morris Mendham: Route 78 west to Route 287 north. Take exit 26B – North Maple St. Bear right at exit & go to light. Turn right onto 202 north; go 2 miles. At light, turn left onto Tempe Wick Road. Go to end. Turn left onto Route 24, go 1/10 mile. Turn left into school driveway.
    Black River Mid School: 24W through Mendham into Chester. At the light, turn right onto Dover-Chester Road, fields 1 mile on left.

Westfield: Parkway south to exit 135. Bear right onto Central Ave. At 4th light, turn left ontoBroad Street. Turn right onto Rahway Avenue. School on left.
    Stadium: Proceed as above. Bear right onto Central Ave. At 2nd light, turn left onto Grove Street, Proceed to end. Thomas A. Edison school will be in front of you. Turn right, stadium is on right. Baseball field across the street.

Weequahic: Take Springfield Ave. to Chancellor Ave. Follow Chancellor Ave. to the school. Untermann field (football) is adjacent to the school.
    Weequahic Park: Take Springfield Ave to Chancellor Ave. Park entrance is on the right.
    Carver Elementary: Follow directions to Weequahic HS. Go one block past school; turn left onto Clinton Place. Go to Lyons Ave. Turn left on Lyons and make a quick right back onto Clinton Place. Carver is on left.

Whippany Park: Route 24 west to exit 1B – Hanover. Turn right at end of ramp onto Whippany Road. The school is on the right about 1 ½ miles from the exit.

Directions to Columbia High School and local fields (scroll below the map):

Columbia High School is located on the northeast corner of the intersection
 of Parker Avenue and Valley Street.  Directions to other sports locations (Underhill Field, Cameron Field, etc.) are found following these directions to CHS. 

From the west via Route 78 and Route 24 - Stay in local lanes and exit at #49B (Maplewood) onto Springfield Avenue.  Watch for sign on your right "Valley St. next right" (3rd right and less than 1/4 mile from exit).  Make jug handle onto Valley St. and continue for 6 lights to intersection of Parker Ave. and Valley St.

From the west via County Route 510 - Columbia Turnpike becomes So. Orange Ave.  Stay on So. Orange Ave. for 10 miles to business district of So. Orange.  Go under railroad bridge to 3rd light (lights are close together) to Valley St.  Turn right onto Valley St. to 2nd light (1 mile) to intersection of Parker Ave. and Valley St.

From the west via Routes 80 and 280 -  Exit at Northfield (Mt. Pleasant Ave.).  Go up hill to 1st light.  Turn left at light onto Gregory Ave. (which becomes Wyoming Ave.) and continue to end at So. Orange Ave.  Turn left onto So. Orange Ave.  Go under railroad bridge to 3rd light (lights are close together) to Valley St.  Turn right onto Valley St. to 2nd light (1 mile) to intersection of Parker Ave. and Valley St.

From the east via Route 280 - Exit at #10 (Montclair/South Orange).  Go left at top of ramp.  Proceed to 3rd traffic light and turn left onto Gregory Ave. (which becomes Wyoming Ave.).  Continue to end at So. Orange Ave.  Turn left onto So. Orange Ave.  Go under railroad bridge to 3rd light (lights are close together) to Valley St.  Turn right onto Valley St. to 2nd light (1 mile) to intersection of Parker Ave. and Valley St.

From the Garden State Parkway (north or south) - Exit at #142 to Route 78 West, keep right on local lanes.  Exit at #50B (Springfield/Millburn), turn right at light off exit ramp onto Vauxhall Road to the 3rd light (Valley St.).  Turn right onto Valley St. and continue for 5 lights (1 1/2 miles) to intersection of Parker Ave. and Valley St.

From the New Jersey Turnpike (north or south) - Exit at #14 (Newark Airport).  After the toll booth exit immediately to Route 78 West, keep right on local lanes.  Exit at #50B (Springfield/Millburn), turn right at light off exit ramp onto Vauxhall Road to the 3rd light (Valley St.).  Turn right onto Valley St. and continue for 5 lights (1 1/2 miles) to intersection of Parker Ave. and Valley St.

From the George Washington Bridge - Take New Jersey Turnpike south to exit #14.  After the toll booth exit immediately to Route 78 West, keep right on local lanes.  Exit at #50B (Springfield/Millburn), turn right at light off exit ramp onto Vauxhall Road to the 3rd light (Valley St.).  Turn right onto Valley St. and continue for 5 lights (1 1/2 miles) to intersection of Parker Ave. and Valley St.

From Rte. 78, make a RIGHT at Parker and a LEFT at Burr Road

From Rte. 280, take South Orange Avenue to Ward Place (at Seton Hall University); turn RIGHT; turn LEFT at dead end.

Directions to Cameron Field & Floods Hill: Follow directions to High School

From Rte. 78, continue up Valley Street past the High School. Turn LEFT at South Orange Avenue. Turn RIGHT at Ridgewood. Turn RIGHT on Mead Street.

From Rte. 280, take South Orange Avenue. Turn LEFT on Ridgewood Road. Turn RIGHT on Mead Street.

Sports/Levels: Gymnastics; Girls' Basketball; Tennis

Directions to South Orange Middle School: Follow directions to Cameron Field (see above). When you turn on to Ridgewood, South Orange Middle School is on your right, before you reach Mead Street.

Sports/Levels: Freshman's Girl's Lacrosse

Directions to DeHart: DeHart is located at the DeHart Community Center in Maplewood.  Take Parker Avenue two blocks east; turn right onto Prospect Avenue.  Turn left on Tuscan. Cross Springfield Avenue and continue 3 more blocks to Burnett.

Sports/Levels:

Directions to Memorial Park: From Columbia High School, continue on Valley Street toward Maplewood.  Memorial Park is on your right in 6-8 blocks.  It has several fields.

Directions to Ritzer Field: Ritzer Field is located at Columbia High School

Sports/Levels: Softball

Directions to Waterlands: From Columbia High School, take Valley Street north
toward South Orange.  Turn left at traffic light onto Third Street.  Go under the train tracks - there is a large apartment complex immediately on your left.  Turn left into Waterlands (long driveway) immediately after the apartment buildings - fields are behind the apartments.
